About Rerouted Health
Healthcare is easier to navigate when you can see the whole map.
Rerouted Health helps people understand the healthcare system, make sense of the research, and discover options they may not have known to ask about.
We believe good healthcare decisions begin with better information — not blind trust, fear, or another person telling you exactly what to do.
We explain how the system works, look carefully at what the evidence actually says, introduce people and approaches worth understanding, and help you arrive at your next conversation with better questions.
Know the system. Know your options.
The gap
Why Rerouted exists
Healthcare is full of information that technically exists but is remarkably hard to find when you actually need it.
- A bill arrives and you don't know what can be challenged.
- A claim is denied and the letter sounds final when it may not be.
- Someone you love is in the hospital and suddenly you're expected to understand discharge planning, insurance, specialists and follow-up care.
Or you're trying to improve your health and discover an entirely different problem: there are hundreds of tests, treatments, technologies and practitioners competing for your attention, and very little help separating what is established from what is interesting, early or overhyped.
Rerouted exists in that gap.
We translate the system into plain English. We examine the research behind options that may sit outside routine care. We show the limits as well as the possibilities. And we help people figure out what questions are worth asking next.
The goal isn't more healthcare.
It's more informed healthcare.

What Rerouted does
Three kinds of help, one standard.

Navigate the system
Medical bills, insurance denials, hospital stays, caregiving, paperwork and the practical mechanics of healthcare.
We help people understand what they are looking at and what questions may help them understand what comes next.
Answers
Understand the research
A study headline is not the same thing as an answer.
We look at who was studied, what was measured, what the research actually found, its limitations and what remains uncertain.
How we research
Explore what else exists
Complementary care. Testing. Recovery. Mental health. Health technology. Biohacking. Private and executive healthcare. Emerging approaches that may not come up during a routine appointment.
Rerouted does not assume newer, alternative or more expensive means better. We explain what it is, what we know, what we don't, what it may cost, what the limitations are, and what questions may be worth discussing.
ExploreThe movement
We don't need another side in healthcare.
Rerouted isn't a movement away from medicine.
It's a movement toward informed participation.
- Patients who ask questions.
- Families who understand what's happening.
- Research explained without hype.
- Practitioners willing to talk across disciplines.
- More transparency about cost.
- More honesty about uncertainty.
And more people knowing that the first route they were shown may not be the only route worth understanding.
Know the system. Know your options.

Where it began
Insider knowledge shouldn't stay insider knowledge.
Rerouted Health grew out of founder Amanda Alcodia's fifteen years inside U.S. healthcare operations.
Her career began in medical records in a Southern California nursing facility and expanded across different parts of healthcare. Those roles gave her a view most patients never get: how people move through the system, how documentation affects decisions, how coverage works, and how much easier healthcare becomes when someone in the room understands the rules.
The question that eventually mattered most wasn't, “How much does Amanda know?”
It was: “Why aren't patients taught this too?”
That question became Rerouted Health.
People & perspectives
Healthcare is too complicated for any one person to be the answer.
Rerouted is being built as a place where people can encounter different kinds of informed voices.
- Physicians and other clinicians
- Researchers
- Patient advocates
- Therapists and mental-health professionals
- Complementary-care practitioners
- Health-technology innovators
- People who understand insurance and healthcare operations
- People with meaningful lived experience
Some may write. Some may review. Some may be interviewed. Some may simply be people whose work we think is worth understanding.
Featured does not mean endorsed.
When Rerouted introduces someone, the goal is not to tell readers to follow them. The goal is to help readers understand:
- Who are they?
- What are they working on?
- What makes it interesting?
- What evidence supports it?
- What are the limitations?
- What should someone understand before deciding whether it matters to them?
Featured so far: Dr. Jeffrey Thompson. More voices will be named here only when they have agreed to take part.
What we believe
Six principles behind every page.
Informed, not anti-doctor.
Good healthcare isn't about automatically accepting everything you're told — or automatically rejecting it. It's about understanding enough to participate.
Evidence deserves context.
A study can be interesting without being definitive. We explain limitations, uncertainty and competing evidence when they matter.
More isn't automatically better.
More tests, more supplements, more treatments and more expensive care do not automatically produce better outcomes.
Complementary should mean complementary.
Exploring another approach does not require abandoning conventional medical care.
Cost is part of healthcare.
An option isn't fully useful if nobody explains what it costs, what insurance may cover and whether reasonable alternatives exist.
Better questions change conversations.
Readers do not need to become doctors. We want them to become better-informed participants in their care.
Trust
How Rerouted earns your trust
Health information should show its work.
